2018-05-10
LinkedIn has polled their massive user base of over 500 million members to identify the following job roles and associated skills as the most sought after by companies in 2018: full stack web developer, web developer, data analyst, cloud architect, platform engineer, UX designer, UI designer, software programmer, data scientist, mobile engineer, mobile application developer, software engineer, database developer and Java developer.

Although the roles listed above do not represent the complete list released by LinkedIn, we can see a trend where many of these roles are directly related to or influenced by coding and programming.

We would like to promote coding capabilities to employers. No matter the job role, a candidate who can code or who has demonstrated that ability to code in the past should certainly be considered above others. Coding is arguably one of the most important skills individuals can know. Given how quickly technology is changing is evolving, coding skills increase in demand on a regular basis.

Notable individuals including Malala Yousafzai, Barack Obama, Justin Trudeau, Arianna Huffington, and more all agree about the importance of coding. Coding skills should be highly valued and sought after in the working world.
